Monday 29th November – walks **** – Around Felixstowe – sunny but cold.

Walk 1 – Sunrise prom.

The very cold weather continues and we wake up to a frost here on the coast at Felixstowe so I decide to head down to the prom to catch to sunrise. With camera in hand, I leave home at 7.20 for the short walk to the seafront with a coating of white on the cars, we don’t get that many frosts on the coast as the sea warms things up a bit! OK sunrise as I get a few pics to send to the local TV weather reports, it is becoming increasingly difficult to get one on and not sure if I can be bothered to keep sending them in! With the wind offshore it was pleasant to be on the beach in the sunshine with the sea flat calm, I got some interesting pics of the small waves before heading back to bed to sort them out. Usual morning at home doing exercises, I was tempted to go out for lunch on our bikes but decided against as the temperature was only 4 degrees!

Walk 2 – Landguard Nature Reserve Circuit.

After another cup of homemade soup Mag and I drove down to park at The Manor for our usual walk around Landguard Nature Reserve. It was sunny and with the wind still offshore it was really lovely to be out, nice and quiet too:) Not much wildlife about, just a few rabbits and gulls. We took the route to the viewing point with only a few container ships in port. Then along the sea shore as the tide was low even managed to find a few pieces of coal, past the recently refurbished jetty to the old pier. Then along the wonderful beach with some lovely waves breaking with the shallow water offshore evident as the Landguard break was working. Then home for a warming cuppa, no cake at the moment as we are being good trying to loss a pound or two!
We now have a couple of mild days with hopefully a good westerly breeze so hope to get out windsurfing at my favourite winter venue, Levington Marina.
